So I just finished watching a Michael Winterbottom film called "9 Songs." Interesting movie. Essentially, it is about the relationship between two people. It is sexually explicit. And when I say explicit I mean the actors are actually having sex. It is not simulated. Real blow jobs, real fingers, real tongues, real cum. Yes, the actor actually ejaculates on screen. It is very graphic.
It is not, however, pornographic. Not only are these people having real sex in a physical sense, they are also have real sex in a more euphemistic way. They are not writhing and screaming, they are having (what looks to be really really good) normal people sex. They don't do anything in this film that I haven't done.
That said, it feels almost voyeuristic and intrusive to watch. It is incredibly intimate, and those are not moments I would want everyone else in the world watching.
Unfortunately, the rest of the movie fails to live up to the sex. Supposedly, these two people are in love, but it is difficult to see what connection they have (other than physical). The whole film relies on these sex scenes, which after a while become less shocking and more filler. In between bedroom romps, the couple goes to concerts. The Dandy Warhols, Goldfrapp, Franz Ferdinand and some other bands I can't think of right now are all featured giving live concerts.
All in all, an ok movie. Definitely a good one if you are trying to get laid. Invite someone over and say "hey, I wonder what this is about..." and your clothes will be off in 15 minutes, tops. It's pretty hot.
Also, the lead actor is uncircumcised. It takes guts to show that on screen, in my opinion. Not that there is anything wrong with that, and truthfully I have trouble telling the difference, but it is just sort of rare.
Anyway, 6 stars out of ten? Maybe 5 1/2. Good seduction movie. Bad plotline movie. Maybe in that way it kind of is like porn...
